I grew up in New York City, where I got my university degree in Creative Writing, and I’ve studied film, literature, and psychology.
The work I create is deeply rooted in reality. At its core, it’s about people. How do they fail? How do they succeed? When I take in a story, I like to see characters who are like me—imperfect, with lots of room to grow. I’m not all that interested in perfect people. I’m interested in learning from those characters. I want to see their challenges and learn from them.
I take after Steven Spielberg, in a sense. First, I aim to earn my reader’s attention. To entertain. Then and only then do I try to make a statement or express myself.
Here’s to learning and growing from amazing stories.
